2 Corinthians 1:3-4
King James Version
3 Blessed be God,
even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies,
and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort them
which are in any trouble,
by the comfort wherewith we ourselves
are comforted of God.
We all know how afflictions change our lives.
It could be loss of life, property, even dignity.
The resulting grief, and sorrow, can never be measured.
All these Israel experienced on 7 October 2023.
As it is, she's still facing threats from seven fronts.
And now, there's trouble in Syria.
Hopefully, it doesn't spill over to Israel.
She has to be more vigilant than ever.
How have her people managed?
How do they help each other?
How have businesses thrived, or survived?
From a video I watched today, I learned of a heart-warming, and ingenious move by a particular winery.
They created something special, and purposeful, for Israel.
Here are some quotes from a section of the video:
"Everything stopped. All the parties, all the winemaking. And everybody went to take care of the state of Israel."
-- Gabriel Groisman, Host of Standpoint Podcast
"I believe that in such a difficult time, we cannot do the same thing that we used to do before." (He was on reserve duty in Gaza.)
-- Yaakov Berg, Owner of Psagot Winery
"We are not just a winery...we are here to support. We all need to support and help each other. There's no privilege to enjoy now."
-- Naama Berg, Owner of Psagot Winery
Psagot Winery created SEVEN labels, for each afflicted area:
The Psagot Winery website says:
"All proceeds from this series contribute to the restoration efforts of the “Otef Aza” villages."
That's what you call a worthwhile business.
Redefined, according to the needs of people.
And the call of the times.
Where there's love, priority, and compassion.
It's a wonderful, and creative way to do business.
Helping others get back on their feet again.
A toast to Israel, Psagot Winery owners, staff, and all who care for Israel!
Most of all, a TOAST to the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!
