FATHERS and SONS

 Proverbs 22:6

King James Version

6 Train up a child in the way he should go:

and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

What would you do for your son?

How far would you go for him?

How much would you do for him?

What if he turns out badly?

Would you be there for him?

Can he count on you?

Today, we share a lovely, but haunting film, about a father, and son.

Both estranged from the other.

But the father's pain goes deeper.

For his own father let him down, too.

And he carried a certain shame at an early age.

And then, a grandson shows up halfway through the movie.

What would the grandfather do for him?

Would he accept him, or would he walk away again?

What happens to the son, so steeped in crime?

Is there a chance at redemption?

Fine actors.

Fine movie.

Wonderful storyline.

And yet it's based on a true story.

How well have you handled pain, and affliction, in your own life?

How did you get through your own troubles -- especially within the family?

"We accept our afflictions with grace, for they come from GOD's GRACE.

If not for His GRACE, we'd have perished.

If not for His GRACE, we would not have known such love."

-- "PURPOSE of AFFLICTION"

Apart from the beautiful movie, it's got a lovely piano piece, too, composed by lyricist, John Murphy.

Gentle, and soothing, it makes me ponder upon fathers and sons, and of how much GOD loves us, in giving us His only begotten Son, JESUS.

John 3:16-17

King James Version

16 For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world

to condemn the world; but that the world

through him might be saved.

Lastly, this born again workman thanks the HOLY SPIRIT Who led me to all these today, that I may share with you.
